How Does This Work??/Rules
We're still working through this new event, so the below could change.

We don't have many rules, but it is your responsibility to know them and understand the concept of this race.
This race is meant for teams of two (refer above for category options) and racers should ride together during the entire race.
There will be 5-7 checkpoints (with 2-3 being mandatory) that you will have to find in the Rothrock State Forest. There is no set order that you have to arrive to them in. However, you may have to leave a checkpoint in a certain direction. Refer to the RMBAR Bible for checkpoint instructions.
You will need to find 4 checkpoints for an official finish.
Racers will have till 8:00 PM to finish the course. If you do not return to the finish by 8:00 PM you will be considered a DNF.
Race results will be figured out by the teams with the most checkpoints completed in the shortest amount of time.
You will receive your race checkpoints in the Rothrock Mountain Bike Adventure Race Bible at 8:00 AM the morning of the race. You will not be able to plan ahead for how to get to your checkpoints. However, it may not hurt to study the Purple Lizard Rothrock State Forest map ahead of the race or make a visit to the forest to explore if you've never been there before.
When you arrive at a checkpoint, you will either get your RMBAR Bible signed by race staff or receive a checkpoint coin (we are still working through these options and will update this asap).
We will supply one full service aid station at one of our checkpoints. Other than that, you will need to carry enough water and food to last during your ride. You can visit this aid station as many times as you'd like during the race. You should expect to be in the forest for at least 5 hours if not way longer depending on how many checkpoints you want to get to.
No E-Bikes Are Allowed.
Racers may only use approved forest roads or trails. If you are found to be bushwacking through the forest your team will get a DQ.
Official race map will be the Rothrock State Forest Map from Purple Lizard Map. If you do not have a map, we will have them for sale on the registration page and will add this into your packet with your race plates. You can also purchase a map at a local bike shop or online with Purple Lizard Maps.
The race director reserves the right to add any rules as something could come up during this new event. This could include to DQ a team.

Required Equipment

Each racer must have a cell phone for emergency purposes.
Each racer must download the app What3Words to their phones. This is an app that could help in the unlikely event of an emergency to help our staff or 911 to find you.
One Rothrock State Forest Purple Lizard Map per team.
Helmet worn entire race per racer.
Whistle (1 per team)
We could ask a team to verify that they have all of the required items at any point during the race. If a team does not have an item in the required list they could be assessed a one-hour penalty per item.

**Since this is the first year and we're not really sure how long this will take, we will play the awards by ear. If you know you've made a podium, stick around the area and we'll make some announcements as to when they'll be held.
